Nothing has officially started rolling out Nothing OS 4.0 (based on Android 16) from 21 November 2025, beginning with its newer devices. The update introduces refined UI changes, new AI-driven features, and enhancements tailored to the Glyph interface, aiming to strengthen Nothing’s distinct software experience.
The update delivers a refreshed UI with smoother animations, new lock-screen clocks, and a deeper “Extra Dark Mode.” Multitasking improves with floating windows, and a new AI-powered Essentials/Widget builder lets users generate tools from prompts. Nothing also boosts its Glyph features: Live Updates bring rear-LED progress cues for rides, deliveries, and timers, with Phone 3 getting the most advanced Glyph upgrades.
Nothing OS 4.0 Begins Phased Rollout, Phone 1 Excluded
Nothing is rolling out Nothing OS 4.0 in phases starting 21 November 2025, with the Phone (3) series receiving the update first. Other eligible models will get it gradually over the following weeks and months, depending on region and carrier. The company stresses that this is a staged OTA release rather than a single global rollout, so availability will differ by market.

- Nothing Phone (3) Lite
- Nothing Phone (3a)
- Nothing Phone (3a) Pro
- Nothing Phone (2)
- Nothing Phone (2a)

Nothing OS 4.0 is aimed at newer and mid-cycle devices, including the Phone 2 and Phone 3 series and select CMF models, while the original Phone (1) won’t receive the update. Phone 3 and Phone 2 owners will see OTAs first. Users are advised to manually check for updates, back up data, use Wi-Fi, and ensure sufficient battery before installing. Some features like advanced Glyph functions will only work on supported hardware. Stable builds should be reliable thanks to earlier open betas, but basic update precautions still apply.
Nothing OS 4.0 doubles as an Android 16 upgrade and a branding refresh, enhancing Glyph features, UI design, and AI micro-apps. The key takeaway: newer Nothing phones will keep getting significant updates, while the original Phone (1) has reached the end of major OS support.
