Apple has officially launched the MacBook Neo in India, marking its most significant push into the accessible laptop segment in nearly a decade. The new Mac comes in under the ₹70,000 segment and features an aluminium design with rounded corners.
Positioned as a gateway to the Mac ecosystem for students, first-time buyers, and everyday users, the Neo represents a clear strategic move to broaden Apple’s reach in a fast-growing Indian market.
The A18 Pro Chip: iPhone Silicon Meets macOS
The most distinctive aspect of the MacBook Neo is its processor. Rather than the M-series chips found in the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, the MacBook Neo is powered by the A18 Pro, The same chip found in the iPhone 16 Pro series. Apple claims it is up to 50 per cent faster for everyday tasks than a PC with the latest shipping Intel Core Ultra 5.
The MacBook Neo supports Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools and Live Translation, with the A18 Pro’s Neural Engine handling these tasks locally on-device. The chip also enables a fanless, silent design suited to everyday workloads.
Design and Display
The MacBook Neo has a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2,408×1,506 pixels, 500 nits of brightness, and support for 1 billion colours. Apple claims the display is both brighter and higher in resolution than most PC laptops in this price range.
Connectivity and Features
For connectivity, the MacBook Neo supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6, a headphone jack, and two USB-C ports for connecting accessories or an external display. Both ports can also be used for charging. It also features a Magic Keyboard with a large Multi-Touch trackpad. Battery life is rated at up to 16 hours.
It runs macOS Tahoe with built-in apps including Safari, Photos, Messages, and FaceTime
India Pricing and Availability
The MacBook Neo starts at ₹69,900 in India, with education pricing at ₹59,900. Customers can pre-order now on Apple’s official website, with availability beginning Wednesday, March 11.
