Oppo’s next tablet, the Pad 5, is poised to be a high-end addition to its Android line up. The company has officially announced a global debut on October 16, 2025 coinciding with the launch of the Find X9 series. Early teasers and leaks suggest the Pad 5 will feature a 12.1-inch 3K+ LCD screen at a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, and run Oppo’s latest Colour OS 16 based on Android 16.
Oppo Pad 5 Launch Date & Specifications
Oppo has confirmed October 16, 2025 as the Pad 5’s global launch date, but has given no specific India date yet. It’s common for tablets to reach India later; notably, the previous Pad 4 Pro launched worldwide on April 11, 2025 and in fact was never released in India. As of now, we expect the Pad 5 might similarly arrive some time after its global debut, but Oppo has not shared an India timeline. If history repeats, any Indian launch could follow in late 2025 or early 2026.
Display: The Pad 5 is said to sport a 12.1-inch IPS LCD panel with roughly 3K+ (about 2880×2160) resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate . Reports mention DC dimming and stylus support, making it well-suited for smooth scrolling, gaming and digital drawing.
Processor (Chipset): The oppo pad 5 is expected to launch with a MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ octa-core chipset, a 3nm flagship-class SoC. Leaks indicate configurations with 8GB, 12GB or even 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage, which would keep multitasking and large files well within reach.
Battery: Rumours point to a huge 10,300mAh battery in the Pad 5.That is among the largest in any premium tablet, and it is expected to support 67W fast charging, so you can quickly top up the tank.
Camera: The Pad 5 appears to use relatively modest cameras. Tipsters say it will have an 8-megapixel rear camera and an 8MP front camera. These are adequate for video calls and casual snapshots, though not as high-resolution as on some rivals.
Software: Oppo confirms the Pad 5 will run ColorOS 16 (based on Android 16). The official teaser highlights features like multi-screen support and enhanced gestures, positioning the Pad 5 as a productivity-focused slate with the latest Android build.
Oppo Pad 5 Expected Price in India
Oppo has not announced official pricing. However, industry trackers suggest the Pad 5 will enter the upper mid-range tablet segment in India. For example, Smartprix projects a starting price of about ₹39,990 for the base Pad 5 model.
This would place it roughly in the ₹35,000–₹45,000 bracket. For context, Oppo’s previous Pad 4 Pro (which never officially launched in India) was listed around ₹46,990 on Indian tech sites. If the Pad 5 does come to India, a ₹39-40K price would make it somewhat more affordable than that earlier model. We’ll update when Oppo provides official Indian pricing, but for now expect a premium tablet price tag in that range.
Oppo Pad 5 vs Competing Tablets
To gauge how the Pad 5 compares, consider two recent Android tablets:
Xiaomi Pad 6: This is an 11-inch tablet with an 1800×2880 (WQHD+) LCD display at 144Hz. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 870 chip and normally packs 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Its battery is 8840mAh with 33W charging.
For cameras, the Xiaomi Pad 6 has a 13MP rear shooter and an 8MP front camera. It ships with Android 13 (MIUI 14) and is priced around ₹23,899 in India.
In short, the Pad 6 is a high-refresh tablet but with a mid-tier processor and smaller battery compared to the Pad 5.
Realme Pad X: This 11-inch tablet offers a 2000×1200 display (standard 60Hz). It uses a Snapdragon 695 5G processor (less powerful than the 870) and comes with 4–6GB RAM plus 64–128GB storage. The Pad X battery is 8340mAh (33W charging)Its cameras are also 13MP rear / 8MP front. The Pad X runs Android 12 (Realme UI) and sells for roughly ₹24,999 in India. It’s a mid-range tablet in every respect.
Oppo Pad 5: Compared to those, the Pad 5 is larger and more powerful. It boasts a 12.1-inch 3K+ 144Hz display (bigger and higher-res than both Pad 6 and Pad X). Its chipset (Dimensity 9400+) is flagship-level, far faster than the 870 or 695. The Pad 5’s 10,300mAh battery also exceeds the Pad 6 and X. All share dual-speaker stereo and stylus support, but the Pad 5 runs the newest Android version (16).
On price, the Oppo device is expected around ₹39,990– higher than the ₹23–25K tags of the Pad 6 and Pad X. In summary, the Pad 5 aims at a premium tier: more screen, more power and newer software, at a commensurately higher price.
Our Thoughts about the Oppo pad 5
The Oppo Pad 5 looks set to be a compelling entry in the Android tablet market. With a massive 12.1-inch 144Hz display, top-end Dimensity 9400+ chipset and huge battery, it clearly targets power users and creatives.
If the leaks are correct, it will outperform the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Realme Pad X on hardware specs and software, but it will also sit at a higher price point.
For India, the key will be whether Oppo decides to bring it over at all – the company has skipped some past tablets locally – and if so, what price it commands. For now, the Pad 5’s global arrival on October 16 is eagerly awaited.
Tech fans should watch for more announcements during Oppo’s Find X9 launch event, when we’ll finally get full details (and hopefully India plans) on this high-end slate.
